PHOENIX — A Silver Alert has been canceled for a 97-year-old Phoenix-area man who was found dead in his car on Thursday.
Eugene R. Hafeman was located by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Gila River Indian land at around 1:30 p.m, authorities said.
MCSO said it believes Hafeman died from heat exhaustion, but an autopsy has not yet been completed.
Hafeman had been missing since Tuesday, when he disappeared from Renaissance Senior Living Apartments in Sun Lakes at around 8 a.m.
He was said to be in good health for his age and took just a prescription blood thinner.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding Hafeman’s death.
