PHOENIX — Arizona Sen. Martha McSally didn’t shy away when given her most recent challenge.
Cracking an egg on her head.
Right after votes tonight, I took the #crackcancer challenge with a little help from @BenSasse. Now up: @brahmresnik @dennis_welch @michaelcrow @UofAPres @RepOHalleran. Thx for the challenge @MacandGaydos. Together we are raising awareness of #cancer. pic.twitter.com/zQaMdsou6X

Accepting KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mac & Gaydos’ Crack Cancer challenge last week, McSally, who got some help from Sen. Ben Sasse, became one of the many around the country breaking eggs for a good cause.
It was a two-egg event as McSally’s new press secretary also got involved in the action Wednesday, taking an egg to the face from the senator.
McSally went on to challenge 12 News’ Brahm Resnick, 3TV’s Dennis Welch, ASU president Michael Crow, University of Arizona president Robert Robbins and Arizona Rep. Tom O’Halleran.
The viral challenge was started as part of Brain Cancer Awareness month by the Willie Strong Foundation, which raises funds to find treatments for pediatric brain cancer.
The challenge is similar to the wildly successful Ice Bucket Challenge that raised money and awareness to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease.
But instead of getting doused with ice water, participants have an egg cracked on their heads.
They then post video of the mess-making to social media, with the #CrackCancer hashtag, and challenge somebody else to take part.
Mac and Gaydos egged themselves last week after being called out by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey.
After getting yolked, Mac and Gaydos called out Arizona Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald, Burns & Gambo of 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station and U.S. Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and McSally.
Sinema fulfilled the challenge on Saturday.
