PHOENIX – A 58-year-old woman allegedly fatally strangled a 76-year-old woman in the West Valley this week, authorities said.

Julie Ling was arrested in connection to Wednesday’s death of Sheila Severeid, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in an email.

About 5 p.m. Wednesday, a man called the Sun City West sheriff’s posse and said a woman at Severeid’s residence told him there was a dead body in the house.

Posse members responded and learned that Ling was the woman at the house.

According to the MCSO email, Ling admitted to strangling Severeid.

She was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
