PHOENIX — Maricopa Community Colleges have teamed up with Amazon Web Services to offer students a program to pursue cloud computing in the tech industry.
According to a release by Maricopa Community Colleges, students will have access to a program that offers 15-credit hours as soon as the Fall 2019 semester. They will be able to search the Amazon Web Services job board, partner network and customers while receiving interactive real-world, project-based assignments.
Maricopa County Community College District Chancellor Maria Harper-Marinick was happy to partner with such a highly regarded group such as Amazon Web Services.
“Our collaboration with AWS is an exciting step forward to closing the employability gap and preparing the community for the workforce of today and tomorrow,” Harper-Marinick said in the release.
Cloud computing is a skill in growing demand especially in computer and mathematical occupations.
The Arizona Department of Labor estimates a 29-percent increase for these roles by 2024.
