PHOENIX – Police in a suburb west of Phoenix said nearly a dozen young suspects jumped a fence at a high school during the night and were caught on camera doing their damage.

Vandals caused about $1,000 in damage at Buckeye Union High School late Tuesday night, spray-painting doors and walls, turning over a golf cart, spraying fire extinguishers and ruining landscaping.

Surveillance video showed them walking around before rolling a golf cart out into an open area, tipping it over and then kicking the roof.

The school, near State Route 85 and Baseline Road, was willing to press charges against the 11, a police department spokeswoman said in an email Wednesday.

Damaging school property is a felony.

The Buckeye Police Department released a photo of a suspect vehicle on Thursday. It appears to be a late model Hyundai that is silver or tan, a department spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the investigation “is aggressively being pursued by Buckeye school resource officers.”

Anyone with information on the crime was asked to call police at 623-349-6497 and ask for Officer Armando Perez or email him.
