Flags at Arizona state buildings at half-staff Wednesday for fallen officers

PHOENIX — Flags at all Arizona state buildings will be at half-staff Wednesday to honor fallen police officers.
Gov. Doug Ducey’s office said in a press release that the flags will remain at half-staff until sunset.
The move will be in coordination with President Donald Trump’s proclamation and recognition of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
In a statement, Ducey praised the officers who have died or have been disabled in the line of duty.
There have been 257 line-of-duty deaths in Arizona, according to Officer Down Memorial Page.
“Our peace officers choose a life and career of service and they are heroes in every sense of the word,” Ducey said in the Tuesday statement.
“They wake up every day, put on the uniform and badge and put themselves in harm’s way so that others might live in comfort and safety,” he continued.
“Arizona is grateful for these men and women in uniform who protect our communities and we come together to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
