PHOENIX — The North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park is soon to be open once again for visitors.
Officially unlatching the gate May 15 to mark the start of the 2019 season, the opening brings with it many of the amenities the Grand Canyon National Park has to offer.
In addition to kicking off the season, all services provided by the National Park Service, which include the Visitor Center, Backcountry Information Office and campground, will be available May 15 at 8 a.m.
Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim operations, including lodging, groceries, food services and gas station, will also open May 15. Other businesses on the Kaibab Plateau are expected to open by May 15.
If you are planning to use the resources of the North Rim, be advised there will be construction over the summer to replace water distribution lines. Work will take place in the campground, employee housing areas, near the lodge and along access roads.
Most commercial and regularly scheduled ranger-led programs will be available until October 15. From November 1 through December 1, the North Rim will be open for day use only unless snow closes Highway 67 before that time.
For more information on lodging and other North Rim facilities, contact Forever Resorts at 877-386-4383 or visit the website. Visitors can also make reservations for the North Rim campground by calling 877-444-6777 or going online.
