PHOENIX — A man is accused of walking onto the tarmac at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, the second such incident in less than a week.
Zidong Wang, 45, opened an emergency exit door in Terminal 4 on April 17 and walked down to the terminal, where he was confronted by two American Airlines employees.
The employees detained him and called police, airport spokeswoman Krishna Patel told KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email.
Wang was on a layover at the time of the incident and had been screened by security prior to flying to Sky Harbor.
He arrived from Los Angeles International Airport and was set to fly out the next morning.
Police said Wang spoke little English and was confused.
Five days earlier, a 25-year-old man was accused of opening an airplane while waiting to disembark and jumping onto the tarmac.
The unidentified suspect sustained minor injuries when he landed on the ground about 10 feet below. He is facing trespassing charges.
