PHOENIX — The Lutheran Church of the Master is holding its annual Easter Sunrise Service at Turf Paradise in Phoenix this Sunday.
The service will take place at 6 a.m. on the outdoor, third-floor grandstand.
The service is open to all faiths, and Pastor Randy Wahl will be officiating, according to a press release.
“This is a one-of-a-kind Easter service with a truly unique backdrop. Turf Paradise is honored to once again be hosting this service,” Vince Francia, Turf Paradise general manager, said in the release.
The annual tradition began 57 years ago when the Lutheran Church of the Master first opened in 1962.
The church did not have enough room to host an Easter service and reached out to Turf Paradise to serve as the location, according to the release.
Turf Paradise is a horse racetrack that opened in 1956. There will be no live racing on Easter Sunday, according to the release.
The racetrack is located at 19th Avenue and Bell Road.
