PHOENIX — A Tempe attorney was disbarred last week after he pleaded guilty to shooting his girlfriend’s former boyfriend in 2013.
An Arizona Supreme Court judge accepted an agreement between Joseph Palmisano and the State Bar of Arizona that ordered he be prohibited from practicing law.
Palmisano, 55, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and kidnapping, two felony offenses, and was sentenced to five years in prison on March 22.
According to police, he and Ryan Hall met in a parking lot in 2013 as Hall was dropping off his son with his former girlfriend.
An altercation ensued and Palmisano shot Hall, whose lung was hit by a bullet. He also broke two ribs.
Palmisano was ordered to pay $1,200 to the State Bar for the expenses associated with his disciplinary proceedings.
