PHOENIX — The Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park, located the West Valley, was named the best zoo in Arizona this weekend.
A Reader’s Digest article listed the zoo’s Baby Animal Nursery and Dragon World exhibit as reasons for the Wildlife World’s high rating.
Other zoos named on the list included the San Diego Zoo and Zoo Miami.
The Wildlife World Zoo is home to 600 species and 6,000 animals on its 100-acre park in Litchfield Park.
“Wildlife World strives to maximize genetic diversity in the zoological population with their breeding programs,” Kristy Morcom, the director of media relations, said in a press release.
The zoo’s other attractions include a 15-acre Safari Park, a river monster exhibit and an Adventure Land with several rides for guests.
Wildlife World Zoo has been around for 35 years. The zoo is located on Northern Avenue and Loop 303.
The zoo made national news last month when a woman was attacked by a jaguar when she allegedly reached over a barrier to take a photo.
The woman apologized to the zoo for the incident and the jaguar was not euthanized.
