3rd visitor dies at Grand Canyon National Park in nine days

PHOENIX — A visitor died at the Grand Canyon National Park on Wednesday, marking the third death at the popular northern Arizona tourist destination in a little over a week.
The body of a 67-year-old man was found approximately 400 feet below the Grand Canyon rim around 11:30 a.m., the National Park Service announced Thursday.
Park rangers had responded to a call that someone fell over the rim east of the Yavapai Geology Museum. The body was recovered.
The museum, which is located on the South Rim, has been reopened and accessible to visitors.
An investigation is ongoing. No other information was available.
The body of a Hong Kong man was found 1,000 feet below the rim at Grand Canyon West on March 28.
Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park – about 95 miles east – were working to identify a person believed to be a foreign national two days prior.
A body was found Tuesday evening in a wooded area south of Grand Canyon Village away from the rim, the park said.
