PHOENIX — Not a fan of the heat?
The Polar Play Ice Bar may just be the place for you.
After closing for a few months for renovations, the frozen bar located at OdySea in the Desert entertainment destination in Scottsdale is up and running.
Filled with ice games, sculptures and a lounge to sit back and chill, the ice bar takes you out of the desert and puts you in the arctic. There’s even an ice throne to sit on.
Just remember to grab one of the bar’s parkas and sets of gloves on your way in. Not your style? Upgrade to one of the establishment’s faux fur coats.
There’s more than just the ice to take in, however.
In addition to the frozen bar, there is also a warm side, called “The Lodge,” that’s setup with leather couches, a fireplace and games. There’s also a private room which can be rented out for parties.
All-day tickets to the Polar Play Ice Bar, which is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., typically go for $16 for children (ages 2-12) and $20 for adults, but for the March grand re-opening, tickets are 50 percent off. A non-alcoholic drink is also included with the purchase.
OdySea Aquarium and Butterfly Wonderland members pay just $5 for the all-day ticket.
Tickets are available for purchase at the bar’s entrance.
OdySea in the Desert is also the site of the Dolphinaris Arizona marine park that was shut down after four Dolphins housed there died in less than two years.
The Dolphinaris portion of the facility will be replaced by a new concept that doesn’t include animals.
