PHOENIX — When it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, Arizona does not have the luck of the Irish.
WalletHub ranked 200 U.S. cities based on holiday traditions, cost, weather and safety and accessibility to find the best places to celebrate the holiday.
Peoria led the state and barely broke into the top half nationally at No. 84.
Chandler, which led the state in last year’s ranking, followed closely behind at No. 86.
The other Arizona cities ranked were No. 93 Gilbert, No. 113 Tucson, No. 124 Scottsdale, No. 165 Tempe, No. 167 Phoenix, No. 180 Glendale and No. 184 Mesa.
The personal finance website looked at indicators like share of Irish population, average beer price, DUI- related fatalities per capita and expected temperature for the holiday.
Mesa fell into the bottom three for most Irish pubs per capita, while Phoenix came in dead last for most St. Patrick’s Day parties and festivals per capita.
Chicago, Philadelphia and Madison, Wisconsin, made up the top three places to celebrate the holiday.
