PHOENIX — A new 32,500-square-foot hospital is expected to open in Mesa this summer near Baseline and Higley roads.
The Abrazo Mesa Hospital will provide emergency and acute services and include a 13-bed emergency department, an operating room and eight inpatient rooms.
Abrazo Community Health Network operates five hospitals in the Valley as well as doctor’s offices and urgent care centers, but this location will be its first in the East Valley.
“Abrazo is growing to meet community health care needs across the Valley,” CEO Frank Molinaro said in a press release.
“Our other hospitals … attract patients from a wide geographic area. It makes sense to expand our services into the East Valley.”
The hospital is expected to create 50 jobs, including clinical and support staff positions.
Molinaro said while the Mesa hospital will offer surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and other services, patients who need more complex care need not worry — it’s designed to “provide close integration” with other Abrazo facilities, including a heart hospital and bariatric wellness center.
“Medical care continues to evolve with a consumer orientation and this is a new model for bringing healthcare into the community,” Molinaro said.
“The Abrazo Mesa Hospital will offer a patient-friendly environment in an efficient, convenient location.”
