PHOENIX — Another weekend calls for another round of Phoenix-area freeway restrictions and closures.
Parts of Interstate 10, Loop 101 and Loop 202 across the Valley will be restricted or closed at various times this weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced.
Loop 101 westbound will be closed between Cave Creek Road and Seventh Street in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
This closure will allow crews to place a temporary barrier and lane-stripe adjustments as part of a freeway widening project. Drivers are encouraged to exit the freeway before Cave Creek Road and use alternative routes, such as southbound Tatum Boulevard to westbound Union Hills Drive or westbound Deer Valley Road.
I-10 eastbound will be closed between 67th and 51st avenues in west Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday for South Mountain Freeway interchange construction. The eastbound on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues will also be closed.
Drivers are encouraged to instead take Loop 101 northbound in the West Valley.
The off-ramp at Loop 202 northbound and on-ramp on the southbound portion of the freeway at Broadway Road in east Mesa will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday for pavement repairs.
The eastbound US 60 ramp to northbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to one lane as part of this closure. Drivers should instead take alternate routes, like Loop 202 ramps at University Drive.
I-10 will be restricted briefly in both directions near Baseline Road in Tempe during the hours of 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday to allow for a Salt River Project overhead line installation. The rolling closures will last up to 20 minutes at a time. Carpool lanes in the area also will be closed briefly.
