Police looking for suspect who fatally shot a man in Phoenix on Saturday

PHOENIX — Phoenix police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with a Saturday night homicide.

Police said they responded to a call that a man had been shot near McDowell Road and 24th Street around 11:30 p.m.

The victim, 32-year-old Joseph Deleon, had exited his car when the suspect approached him and shot him for unknown reasons, police said.

They said the suspect tried to drive off in the victim’s car, but then ran from the scene, was struck by a car on McDowell Road and continued to flee.

Police said the victim was hospitalized in extremely critical condition and died from his injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness.
