PHOENIX — A Phoenix Police Department officer was injured in a crash on the Loop 202 in the East Valley early Wednesday morning.
Phoenix police Sgt. Vince Lewis told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the unidentified officer was in the hospital after the 6:15 a.m. crash on the westbound highway near Val Vista Drive in Gilbert.
Lewis said the motorcycle officer was rear-ended while stopped in traffic due to an unrelated crash. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
“We are grateful for everyone’s positive thoughts as our officer recovers,” he added.
Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Kameron Lee told KTAR News that the officer will be released from the hospital later Wednesday.
