PHOENIX — For the third year in a row, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is making a stop in Tempe on its Educating America Tour to raise awareness for the disease.
The foundation will hold its Concepts in Care Educational Conference at the Phoenix Marriott Resort Tempe at The Buttes on March 12 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“(The conference) is designed to connect individuals with information about Alzheimer’s disease, caregivers and the general public about related programs, support service and what’s the current state of research,” CEO Charles Fuschillo told KTAR News 92.3 FM last week.
The conference is free and open to the public. Anyone interested can register online.

Fuschillo said there will also be free, 10-minute memory screenings for anyone who attends.
“In the state of Arizona alone, there are more than 140,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease, and there are more than 330,000 caregivers in Arizona that provide approximately 380 million hours of unpaid caregiving,” Fuschillo said.
“We want to empower individuals with education, resources (so they) know where to turn to, God forbid, Alzheimer’s walks through their front door.”
