PHOENIX — A brewery in Prescott is among the best in the world, according to a beer rating website.
RateBeer named Superstition Meadery the No. 35 best brewery out of 36,000 worldwide based on user reviews.
The ranking was based on five metrics that placed emphasis on reviews from the past year and top-performing beers.
The brewery near Montezuma and Gurley streets is known for its production of mead, an alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey with water and flavorful ingredients.
Its top-rated drink on RateBeer is its Straw Berry White mead, which is made with strawberry juice and white chocolate and scored a 4.35 out of 5.
“Pours a clear copper sort of color. Liquid strawberry jam with some vanilla, cream and sweet honey. Actually kind of reminds me of a strawberry cheesecake,” said one RateBeer review.
The brewery offers a long list of meads and ciders, available at $2-6 for a 1-ounce taste, or $24 for a flight of 12 samples.
The top three breweries in the ranking were Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro, Vermont; Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa, California; and Trillium Brewing Company in Boston.
