PHOENIX – Architects of Air: Albesila, a large-scale immersive art installation, will be on display in Mesa from Saturday until Feb. 17.
Visitors will be able to walk through and explore the inflatable structure’s connected oval domes at Pioneer Park, located on Main Street east of Mesa Drive.
Designed by British artist Alan Parkinson, Albesila is billed as an experience of color, music and wonder.
The installation is about half the size of a football field and can hold up to 80 people at a time.
“The experience of this giant inflatable sculpture is like walking inside a work of stained glass — breathtakingly beautiful, serene and contemplative,” a Mesa Arts Center press release said.
Guests can visit the installation for 30-minute sessions from noon to 9 p.m. daily. Tickets are $7 per person, and children under 2 are free.
On Saturday, the sessions will end an hour early to make way for the Color and Light Party.
The 21-and-up event will run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and feature live music, drinks and snacks. Tickets for the party cost $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and include admission to Albesila.
