PHOENIX — A good Super Bowl party isn’t complete without a cornucopia of food, especially snacks.
Arizona, however, prefers to skip straight to dessert when it comes to its Super Bowl eats.
Cake — yes, cake — is the most popular Super Bowl snack in Arizona, according to a Kitchn story based on Google trends.
There’s no mention of a specific style or type of cake, but a comfort food makes sense if you consider an Arizona team has played in the Super Bowl just once in the Super Bowl’s 50-plus year history.
Other states love cake too, including Washington, Wyoming, Tennessee and Florida.
Other popular Super Bowl snack choices were pizza, cupcakes and various dips.
There were some odd choices as well.
New Mexico’s is pea and peppercorn mash, Colorado likes broccoli cheese soup and Massachusetts is a big fan of gluten-free pretzels.
