40 mummies arrive at Arizona Science Center for new exhibition

PHOENIX — It’s a long way from Halloween, but you can still see some mummies in Phoenix next month.
The largest collection of mummies ever assembled arrived at the Arizona Science Center on Wednesday, escorted by Phoenix police.
The 40 human and animal mummies plus 85 rare artifacts will make up the Mummies of the World exhibition, running from Feb. 10 to Sept. 2.
The exhibition came from Budapest, Hungary, and includes materials from civilizations in Europe, South America and ancient Egypt spanning 4,500 years.
“This exhibition lets our guests get up close and personal with real human bodies that have been preserved,” Chevy Humphrey, CEO of Arizona Science Center, said in a press release.
“Our guests will be amazed as they learn about the mummies and how science has allowed us to uncover the real stories of these people who lived centuries ago. If there’s an exhibition that will turn our minds onto science, this is it.”
Mummies of the World requires a timed-entry ticket, and advanced purchase is recommended.
Tickets for non-members are $12 for adults, and $10 for children ages 3 to 17.
