PHOENIX – Arizona’s Flintstones-themed roadside attraction near the Grand Canyon is going to the birds.

New owners plan to turn Flintstones Bedrock City into Raptor Ranch, a park featuring birds of prey, ABC15 reported Wednesday.

Bedrock City, which opened in Williams in 1972, was a family-friendly replica of the cartoon family’s hometown, complete with Fred’s Diner, where patrons could order a Bronto Burger, Chickasaurus Dinner or Fishasaurus Sandwich.

The 30-acre property, which includes a gift shop and RV park, was put up for sale in 2015 with an asking price of $2 million, but the actual sale price hasn’t been disclosed.

ABC News reported in 2015 that a licensing agreement with the studio that created The Flintstones, Hanna-Barbera, was not part of the sale.

Holly Hulen, the daughter of owner Linda Speckels, told ABC News that her mother was selling the property so she could retire.

Speckels started operating Bedrock City with her husband, Francis “Hudi” Speckels. The attraction was a spinoff of a similar one Francis Speckels’ parents started in Custer, South Dakota.

Francis Speckels died in 1990, but Linda Speckels continued running the park.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
