PHOENIX — Seven Arizona hotels were ranked among the best in the nation by a popular travel website.
TripAdvisor released its 2019 Travelers’ Choice Hotel winners, grouped both internationally and by country, on Thursday.
While no Arizona hotels made the overall top 25 list for the U.S., they did get recognized in several smaller categories.
Three hotels from the state made it into the top 25 for romance: the Inn Above Oak Creek in Sedona (No. 4), the Tavern Hotel in Cottonwood (No. 13) and the Casa Sedona Inn in Sedona (No. 18).

The state’s bed-and-breakfasts also made an impression, with two named to the top 25 list.
Both in Sedona, the Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast was named No. 13 and The Suites at Sedona B&B was named No. 15.
The Adobe Grand Villas in Sedona was ranked No. 11 out the nation’s top 25 small hotels, and the Arizona Sunset Inn in Willcox was ranked 22nd for the top 25 bargain hotels.
The Inn Above Oak Creek made it into a second category, ranking 19th for the top 25 hotels for service.
Arizona didn’t have any winners in the luxury or family categories.
The top three hotels in the U.S. were the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina; the Nantucket Hotel & Resort in Nantucket, Massachusetts; and The Spectator Hotel, also in Charleston.
The top three in the world were the Tulemar Bungalows & Villas in Costa Rica, Hotel Belvedere in Italy and Viroth’s Hotel in Cambodia.
