PHOENIX — Papa John’s locations in the Valley will donate $1 per order Tuesday to the family of the late Salt River Police Officer Clayton Townsend.

Fifty pizza joints throughout metro Phoenix will participate, according to a Salt River Police Department press release.

The donation will benefit Townsend’s wife and 10-month-old son.

Townsend was killed Jan. 8 when he was struck by a car during a traffic stop on Loop 101.

The driver that struck Townsend admitted to texting and driving at the time of the crash.

A GoFundMe set up by Townsend’s family had reached almost $88,000 of its $100,000 goal over the weekend.
