PHOENIX — The Cactus Yards sports facility in Gilbert will offer the town’s first adult kickball league this winter.

Feb. 9 will be opening day for the venue, formerly known as Big League Dreams, which features replicas of pro ballparks.

The town closed the facility in June 2017 for repairs and safety improvements and terminated its contract with its private operator.

The seven-week adult kickball season will begin Feb. 11 with games on Thursday and Friday nights.

Interested teams of 10 to 15 players can register online for $450. Registration ends Jan. 31.

Cactus Yards will also offer leagues for adult indoor soccer and softball; youth indoor soccer, baseball and softball; and early childhood sports.

The facility is celebrating its grand reopening on Feb. 9 from 4-8:30 p.m. with live music, games, and an unveiling of the new scoreboard at 6 p.m complete with fireworks.

The event will end with a showing of “The Sandlot” on the ballfield at 6:30 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
