PHOENIX – The Phoenix Fire Department had a prolific 2018, and it had nothing to do with battling flames.
There were 42 babies born to Phoenix firefighters in 2018, and the department commemorated the arrivals with an adorable photo shoot.
The parents laid out 40 turnout coats to spell out PFD and placed the babies on the coats to capture the moment. (Two sets of twins each shared one coat.)
Earlier in the year, some firefighters did a smaller photo shoot with eight babies. That inspired the grander, and more difficult, plan.
With some of the babies already crawling, getting all the little ones to stay put long enough turned out to be something a fire drill.
Thankfully, the photographers had access to ladder truck so they could get high enough to capture the moment.
In a press release, the department said there is talk of making the baby photo an annual tradition.
