Retired K9 from Buckeye Police Department dies at age 12

PHOENIX — The Buckeye Police Department announced Tuesday that its retired K9 Cido died at age 12 on Monday.
Cido, a Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic, joined the department in December 2008 and retired in July 2017.
He and his partner Officer Dave Smith located thousands of pounds of illegal substances and secured millions of dollars that were seized during narcotics investigations, according to the department.
Cido also helped to locate and apprehend multiple suspects who attempted to evade law enforcement.

Cido and Smith went through 400 hours of training together, and when Cido retired, he became a full-time member of Smith’s family.
