PHOENIX – A three-month operation targeting gang activity in the Phoenix and Tucson areas resulted in the arrest of 182 fugitives, including seven wanted for homicide, the U.S. Marshals Service announced Tuesday.
Officers involved in the initiative, called Operation Triple Beam, seized 27 firearms, 11 pounds of heroin, 300 Fentanyl pills and more than 6 pounds of methamphetamines.
“The success of this particular operation is a perfect example of how collaboration with our law enforcement partners further protects our communities against violent gangs,” U.S. Marshal David Gonzales said in a press release.
The operation, which ran from October to December, involved 15 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies from Maricopa and Pima counties.
“Phoenix Police works closely with our federal partners whenever possible, especially when it concerns the safety of those living and visiting Phoenix,” Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams said in the release.
Operation Triple Beam cleared 208 warrants and included 102 arrests for drugs, 21 for weapons and 21 for aggravated assault.
“We continue to support our federal partners from the U.S. Marshals Service and other law enforcement agencies to collectively make our communities safer,” Chandler Police Chief Sean Duggan said in the release.
