PHOENIX — Over winter break, a thief emptied three storage sheds at a Phoenix high school, according to ABC15 Arizona.
Equipment used by the school’s sports teams, including balls, cleats and jerseys, was stolen from the Western School of Science and Technology near 67th Avenue and Indian School.
The school’s athletic director Adrian Espana told ABC15 that he found an apology note written on a post office label on the ground near one of the sheds.
The note read: “Hello manager, please forgive me for taking what doesn’t belong to me! I cannot let my little sister go hungry because of my fault!”
Espana said students raised money to purchase the items through grants, car washes and other efforts.
He said the school has surveillance cameras and Phoenix police were expected to review the footage in the coming week.
Anyone wanting to help replace the lost items could contact the front office during school hours at (623) 249-3900, Espana said.
