PHOENIX – A new year brings new road restrictions for the Valley’s freeways.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, Interstates 10 and 17 will have overnight restrictions over the course of the next week for improvement projects.

I-10 westbound will be down to three lanes between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and 43rd Avenue from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

The I-10 west on-ramp at 27th Avenue will be closed overnight as well.

Starting this weekend, I-17 in north Phoenix will have lane restrictions for four nights.

Northbound I-17 will be down to two lanes between Deer Valley and Happy Valley from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

Southbound I-17 will be down to two lanes between Jomax and Deer Valley from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Southbound I-17 will be down to two lanes between Happy Valley and Deer Valley from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Northbound I-17 will be down to two lanes between Deer Valley and Happy Valley from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

As part of a project to rebuild the interchanges at Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads, a stretch of the southbound I-17 HOV lane in the area will be closed for approximately one year.

The project is scheduled to be completed by fall 2020.

As always with traffic construction, allow extra travel time and drive with precaution for the safety of both construction workers and drivers.

More information on the I-10 project and I-17 project can be found online.
