Mac & Gaydos’ annual Caring for Kids event, presented by Canyon State Credit Union, brought in thousands of donations — all for a great cause.

Listeners made donations at two locations on Friday afternoon that will benefit two worthy organizations, Child Crisis Arizona and Arizona Helping Hands.

KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mac & Gaydos were on hand at the Walgreens location near Seventh Street and Thunderbird Road, while Jayme West, Jim Sharpe and Pamela Hughes helped collect donations at the Walgreens near Warner Road and McClintock Drive.

Arizona Cardinals’ player Ricky Seals-Jones joined the festivities and helped promote the event.

One man donated two giant teddy bears, while others dropped off baby dolls, board games and bikes.

And let’s not forget about the piles and piles of diapers, which amounted to more than 250,000 — an increase of 50,000 from last year.

It's our 6th Annual Mac and Gaydos Caring for Kids! Our presenting sponsor Canyon State Credit Union and their members just drove up with 250,000 diapers! Special thanks to Bellhops Moving for picking up the thousands of donations collected at Walgreens. #CaringForKidsAZ

Child Crisis Arizona provides hope and services to vulnerable children and families.

The nonprofit operates the only emergency shelters for children in the Valley, is a leading resource to license, train and support foster and adoptive families and provides early childhood education through a preschool, parenting classes, workshops and playgroups.

Arizona Helping Hands assists foster families who have provided a safe environment for children in the Arizona Department of Child Safety system.

It’s not too late if you missed out on Friday’s events. You can make a donation at childcrisisaz.org or azhelpinghands.org.

We want to hear from you.
