PHOENIX — Northern Arizona could receive a special gift from Mother Nature for the holidays: A white Christmas.
Megan Taylor with the National Weather Service Flagstaff said a cold front is expected to move through the area on Christmas Day — and could bring rain and snow.
Taylor told KTAR News 92.3 FM that areas in elevations between 5,500 and 6,000 feet could see a couple inches of snow Tuesday.
Anyone who is planning on heading up north for the holiday is encouraged to monitor the forecast, she added.
But Taylor said northern Arizona will see nicer weather heading into the holiday. The area will see temperatures in the 50s and 60s on Friday, the first day of winter, and mild conditions were expected to continue through the weekend.
Temperatures in the Valley will be a different story leading up to the holiday: Andrew Deemer with the National Weather Service Phoenix said the area will see highs in the low to mid 70s Friday.
“It’s a pretty good day for the first day of winter across the board,” he said. “It’ll be nice to be out and about.”
