PHOENIX — It typically doesn’t snow in Phoenix, but don’t tell the people at the Arizona Science Center.
The center is turning Heritage & Science Park at Heritage Square into a winter wonderland between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1 as part of Snow Week 2018.
More than 100 tons of snow will blanket the parks, and adults and children alike will be able to experience winter in the desert.
Activities include building a snowman, making snow angels and the “Snowing Ping Pong Ball” explosions.
The park is located at 7th and Monroe streets in downtown Phoenix and will be open for Snow Week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The six-day event will feature a different theme each day.
Themes include Star Wars vs. Star Trek (Dec. 26), Fairy Tale Science (Dec. 27) and Family Fun Weekend (Dec. 29/30).
A special New Year’s Eve party will be themed around Harry Potter and feature crafts, activities and demonstrations.
Entry is included with general admission to the Science Center, $18 for adults, $13 for kids and free for members.
