PHOENIX – Phoenix-born singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks made a bit of history Thursday, earning a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
Nicks, who finished second in fan voting to Def Leppard, became the only woman to be in the hall as an individual and part of a group, Fleetwood Mac.
She pulled in 427,844 votes. Nicks, Def Leppard and Roxy Music were voted in on their first nominations, which were released in October.
Induction was scheduled March 29 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Nicks launched a solo career in 1981 with her duet with the late Tom Petty, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Other hits followed, including “Edge of Seventeen,” ”Stand Back” and “I Will Run to You.”
“I have a lot to say about this,” Nicks said in a statement reported at Rolling Stone, “but I will save those words for later.
“For now I will just say, I have been in a band since 1968. To be recognized for my solo work makes me take a deep breath and smile. It’s a glorious feeling.”
Another female performer, Janet Jackson, joined her brother Michael and the Jackson 5 as members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
