PHOENIX – Three downtown Mesa museums are getting into the holiday spirit with free admission and extended hours Friday night.
The Arizona Museum of Natural History, i.d.e.a. Museum and Mesa Contemporary Art Museum are participating in the Merry Museums event from 6-10 p.m.
No advanced tickets will be available, but museums might distribute timed tickets at the door on a first-come, first-served basis if the lines are long.
In addition to an imposing dinosaur sculpture bursting out of its exterior, the Arizona Museum of Natural History (53 N. Macdonald) has approximately 58,000 objects in collections that focus on the state’s natural and cultural history.
The i.d.e.a. Museum (150 W. Pepper Place) aims to spark kids’ imagination and creativity through art exhibitions and science, technology, engineering and math activities.
The Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum (1 E. Main St. in the Mesa Arts Center) is always free but will extend its hours for Merry Museums.
While in the area, visitors can also enjoy holiday-themed activities at the Merry Main Street and 2nd Friday Night Out events, with food trucks, a Christmas market, an ice rink and other activities within walking distance.
