PHOENIX — Based on online activity and area culture, Arizona came in ranked No. 43 out of the 50 states in the country in terms of holiday spirit.
GetCenturyLink compiled data on which states have the most Christmas spirit using those two categories. They found that Washington had the most, and Alaska had the least.
“They took a look at our online activity, which is super creepy,” Pamela Hughes said on Thursday during the Bruce & Pamela Show on KTAR News 92.3 FM. “The other thing they can take a look at right now is music streaming. How many people are streaming Christmas music? Me, a lot.”
Unfortunately, Pamela’s affinity for Christmas music wasn’t enough to carry the entire state. Especially with her radio partner on the other end of the spectrum.
“If you are anything like me and most of the guys listening, you know, that means you have two weeks before you even think about shopping for anybody or getting anything, right?” Bruce St. James said.
Google searches for Christmas activities, Google shopping trends, Christmas music streaming and tweets about Christmas were the metrics used to compose the online activity category, while number of Christmas tree farms per capita and charitable giving made up the methodology in the area culture category.
Neighboring states California, Nevada and New Mexico joined Arizona in the bottom ten of the rankings, while northern neighbor Utah ranked No. 3 in the nation.
