PHOENIX — Police in a Phoenix suburb said Thursday a man was shot and killed outside a sports bar and other customers tried to help the victim and kept the suspect from escaping.
Troy Paille, 28, was taken into custody late Wednesday by Surprise police at Tailgaters restaurant near Bell and Reems Road. He was charged on suspicion of the first-degree murder of Anthony Kenny, 27.
Witnesses told investigators that the two men had other run-ins.
When police reached the parking lot, Paille was being physically restrained by others who had been inside the bar.
Another group was trying to keep Kenny alive.
Sgt. Tim Klarkowski told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the shooting appeared to be “a targeted attack on the victim” and there is no threat to the public.
Kenny died at a hospital.
Paille was also charged with misconduct involving weapons and possession of marijuana.
