PHOENIX – An Arizona man was sentenced to 190 years in state prison Friday after he was convicted of being a pimp for teenage girls, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced.
The sentencing came after Josef Dixon, 28, was found guilty of 14 counts of child prostitution and one count of drug possession.
“Today’s sentencing should serve as an example of the type of punishment we will pursue for anyone who desires to profit from sex slavery,” Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery said in press release.
“Make no mistake, whenever and wherever we can, we will partner with law enforcement to make Maricopa County the most unwelcome place to exploit children.”
In May 2017, officers saw Dixon take part in a drug sale near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road before getting into a vehicle.
The officers contacted Dixon and found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, along with several women.
Two of the women were actually teenagers, ages 15 and 16, who said Dixon and another woman in the vehicle had been selling them to perform sex acts through online ads.
The woman, Miesha Tolliver, told officers she and Dixon had been using the teens for prostitution and knew their ages.
Tolliver, 28, was sentenced earlier this month to seven years in state prison and three years of probation.
