PHOENIX – If you were planning to use Megabus for a trip from the Phoenix area to Las Vegas, you, ahem, missed the bus.
The discount transportation company is ending the route Friday just six months after it began.
“Megabus has concluded a six-month trial period of service between Las Vegas, Nevada, Phoenix, Glendale and Tempe, Arizona,” Sean Hughes, the company’s director of corporate affairs in North America, told ABC15 in an email.
“After reviewing the trial results, Megabus.com has chosen to leave the market.”
Friday’s final voyage was scheduled to leave Tempe at 4:15 p.m. and make pickups in Phoenix and Glendale before heading to Las Vegas, where it was due arrive at 9:10 p.m.
The one-way trip is listed for $24.99 at the company’s website, with a $2.50 booking fee for all transactions.
Anybody on that bus will have to stay in Sin City or find another way to get back to the Valley, as no more return trips are available.
Megabus serves more than 100 cities across North America.
The company’s specially made double-deck buses offer amenities such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets and panoramic windows.
When it launched service from Phoenix to Las Vegas on May 25, it offered a limited number of $1 fares along with tickets that went for $14.99 per person.
Megabus previously operated in the market with a route between Phoenix and Los Angeles that ran from 2006 to 2008, according to ABC15.
