PHOENIX – Candy and the winter holidays go together like fireplace stockings and, well, candy, which is why Americans were likely to spend $2 billion on sweets at Christmastime this year.
That is an awful lot of candy canes and chocolates. And in Arizona, chocolate rules for Christmas. More specifically, CandyStore.com said, Reese’s Cup Minis are the most popular holiday candy in the Grand Canyon State.
Runners-up in Arizona were Hershey’s Kisses and Skittles.
The bulk-candy website said it quizzed more than 30,000 customers and included input from candy makers and sellers to make its list and check it twice.
The interactive map below will show you what each state picked, but we’ll tell you Arizona wasn’t alone in its choice. California also favored Reese’s Cup Minis, as did Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, South Dakota and Texas.

“AZ loves Reese’s Cup Minis at Christmas time, and who can argue with that,” the blog said.
Arizona was a big fan of chocolate this year, with Snickers being the state’s most popular candy for Halloween.
A year ago, Pez was Arizona’s top choice for the holidays.
But Pez has fallen out of favor this time around. The blog pointed out only three states listed the little dispenser-delivered candy as No. 1.
