PHOENIX – The new Flix Brewhouse in downtown Chandler has an opening date, an opening movie and plenty of job openings to fill.
The movie/microbrewery/gastropub concept at Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard will debut on Dec. 19, just in time for the release of “Mary Poppins Returns.”
Flix is in the process of hiring around 200 full- and part-time employees for the new location, including servers, bartenders and box office attendants.
On Saturday, the theater will sponsor downtown Chandler’s tree lighting event, at which a costumed Mary Poppins will be available for photo opportunities.
“The goal isn’t to simply set up shop here; we’re really looking forward to being an active part of the downtown Chandler community,” Greg Johnson, Flix director of marketing, said in a press release.
Flix was founded in 2011, and the Chandler location will be its first in Arizona and 10th nationwide.
The new venue will occupy 35,000 square feet with nine state-of-the-art auditorium theaters.
The beer menu will feature regionally inspired libations brewed onsite in small batches.
Flix also has locations in Texas, New Mexico, California, Iowa, Wisconsin and Oklahoma.
