PHOENIX — The National Christian College Athletic Association will hold its Victory Bowl game Friday at Ottawa University Arizona’s campus in Surprise.
The OUAZ Spirit will face off with the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers in the football game.
The university’s Surprise residential campus opened in 2017 and announced plans to build a $19.9 million student housing facility this month.
“This is a big deal to us on campus. I think it’s a statement of the great progress that we’ve made in our athletic department and as an institution,” Dennis Tyner, vice president and provost of OUAZ, told KTAR News 92.3 FM last week.

Tyner said Surprise residents have been welcoming to the university and its athletic programs.
He said he thinks the community will enjoy the opportunity to watch a college bowl game in their own city.
“It’s our first year of our football program, and in their first year they had an invitation to not only play in the bowl, but host the bowl game here in Surprise, Arizona,” Tyner said.
All student-athletes and their coaches will participate in a service project as part of the event.
