PHOENIX — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were credited with saving two lives last week, the agency said in a news release.
A 41-year-old Arizona woman and her 2-month-old son were re-entering the U.S. at the Port of Nogales when officers noticed the boy wasn’t breathing.
One officer performed chest compressions and breathed into the baby’s mouth until he regained consciousness.
The mother then chose to drive the baby to a nearby hospital, according to the agency.
Two days prior, Port of Nogales officers saved a 22-year-old man from California who reportedly overdosed on drugs.
They administered Naloxone, a prescription drug that blocks the effects of opioids, and got the man to start breathing again.
