PHOENIX – If you’re looking for love in Arizona, you might want to head south.
According to WalletHub, Tucson is the best city for singles in the Grand Canyon State.
The personal finance website compiled its 2018 Best & Worst Cities for Singles list by rating more than 180 U.S. cites across 34 indicators in three categories: economics; fun and recreation; and dating opportunities.
Tucson, the state’s second-largest city, checked in at No. 14 in the country. Its best category was dating opportunities, where it ranked 13th.
Phoenix, the state’s largest city, was close on Tucson’s heels at No. 19 overall. Tempe was next at No. 21.
Then there was big gap until the state’s next best city, No. 41 Chandler.
The other Arizona cities on the list were No. 58 Scottsdale, No. 67 Mesa, No. 117 Glendale, No. 146 Gilbert and No. 151 Peoria.
Peoria actually ranked second for economics, but it was dragged down by its No. 170 rankings in the other two categories.
Despite its low overall ranking, Gilbert was among the best in the country in two dimensions. The East Valley town was No. 1 for most online dating opportunities and No. 2 for lowest restaurant meal costs.
However, Gilbert was 180th out of the 182 cities listed in percentage of singles.
WalletHub determined that Atlanta is the country’s best city for singles, while Brownsville, Texas, was at the bottom of the list.
