PHOENIX — Eight people, including six children, suffered minor injuries after a school bus was involved in a rollover crash in the West Valley on Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Bryant Vanegas with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said the children did not require further evaluation on their injuries and were released to their parents at the scene.

The driver of the bus, who was not identified, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries for precautionary reasons.

The crash occurred in the area of Southern Avenue and El Mirage Road in Tolleson around 8 a.m.

The school bus overturned after a passenger vehicle allegedly crashed into it after running a stop sign.

The driver of the second vehicle also did not require further medical care.

Impairment or speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, Vanegas said.

In a Facebook postLittleton Elementary School District pointed to its investment in school buses as a reason for the lack of major injuries.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
