PHOENIX – Doug Ducey for president?
That sounds pretty good to Meghan McCain.
“I hope before I die somebody from Arizona gets to the White House,” McCain, co-host of “The View” and daughter of late Sen. John McCain, told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mac & Gaydos on Wednesday.
McCain, whose father twice ran for president and was the Republican nominee in 2008, called Ducey, who was elected to a second term as Arizona’s governor Tuesday, “my kind of conservative.”
“I really, really, really am a big fan of Gov. Ducey’s, and I think his political future is bright in whatever realm he wants it to be,” she said.
McCain said she’s long been a fan of Ducey’s politics – she voted for him twice – but got to know him on a personal level after her father was diagnosed with the brain cancer that claimed his life in August.
“He was just so lovely to my family … and I have come to really admire the person he is and I think he’s a great person to be representing Arizona,” she said.
McCain spent Tuesday night on the air as part of ABC’s national election coverage.
“It’s nice on election night to have someone from Arizona on the ticket that I was genuinely excited to be talking about on television,” she said.
McCain said she didn’t have any inside information about Ducey’s plans and wouldn’t project whether he’d seek a spot on a national ticket down the road.
“I’m sort of out of the predicting at this point because I could never have predicted Trump and what’s happening now,” she said.
