Ontario utility worker dies repairing storm damage
SARNIA, Ontario (AP) – A Canadian utility worker has been killed in southwestern Ontario while working on a power line damaged by superstorm Sandy.
The Ontario Labour Ministry said Wednesday the worker was electrocuted while tending to a downed power line in Sarnia, Ontario.
The ministry is investigating the death, which occurred around 11 a.m. local time. Provincial Energy Minister Chris Bentley tweeted his condolences to the worker’s family.
It’s the second known death from Sandy in Canada, after a Toronto woman was killed by a falling sign on Monday.
