PHOENIX — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport’s growth continued in September.
The airport announced Monday that it had its busiest September in airport history, marking the 12th month in a row the airport reported passenger growth.
Gateway Airport has seen double digit growth in passenger numbers during the past year and September 2018 marks the fifth consecutive month of record-setting passenger activity levels, the airport said in a press release.
“This year is shaping up to be the busiest year in Gateway Airport history,” Apache Junction Mayor and Chair of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (PMGAA) Jeff Serdy said. “We are pleased that Allegiant has added additional destinations and excited to welcome three new airlines just in time for the busy winter travel season.”
The airport anticipates the growth will continue into the winter and the holiday season.
This winter, pasengers will have five airlines — up from two — and 47 nonstop destinations to choose from at Gateway Airport.
Swoop, California Pacific and Flair Air are set join WestJet and Allegiant Air.
